Can you believe summer is already wrapping up here in Forsyth County? It feels like just yesterday we were kicking things off at the lake, and now the leaves are starting to turn and there’s a chill creeping into the evening air. As much as I hate to see the long pool days go, I have to admit I’m excited, because fall in Forsyth County is shaping up to be one for the books.
We’ve got a brand-new visitor experience on the way, a couple of exciting new spots to eat and drink, and more adventures with our favorite local guide, Jamie. So grab a pumpkin spice something and let’s catch up on everything headed our way this fall.
A New Way to Explore Forsyth County
Here’s some exciting news: we’re rolling out a brand-new tourism app, and it’s going to make exploring Forsyth County easier than ever. We’ve partnered with Visit Widget to build an app that will live right in your pocket, with everything you need to plan the perfect day (or weekend) here, from where to eat and stay to what’s happening around town.
The app will be free to download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play, so it doesn’t matter what kind of phone you carry. And if you stop by our Visitor Center in person, you’ll see a brand-new touchscreen kiosk where you can browse the same information right there on the spot.
We’ll share the exact launch date as soon as it’s ready, so keep an eye on this space (and our Facebook and Instagram) for updates.
New Places to Eat and Drink
Our dining scene keeps getting better, y’all. Tavern off the Green officially opened its doors at Cumming City Center, and it’s already turning into a local favorite for a Cajun-inspired menu and late-night hours, perfect for grabbing a bite after a show at the Lou Sobh Amphitheater.
And if you love supporting Georgia-grown, keep an eye out for Simple Man Distillery, opening any day now at Cumming City Center. They’re all about farm-to-bottle spirits made with Georgia-grown grain, and we cannot wait to raise a glass with them once they open.
