Venue guide
Two systems run most of the bookable space in the county: Forsyth County Parks & Recreation and the City of Cumming.
FORSYTH COUNTY PARKS & RECREATION
The county park system
More than twenty parks, plus the lake access parks co-managed with the Corps of Engineers. Diamonds, multi-use fields and indoor courts all book through the county.
FIELDS
Rectangle & triangle fields
Fowler Park (6 turf rectangle fields, 4 baseball/softball diamonds), Central Park (3 turf rectangle fields, 9 baseball/softball diamonds) and Lanierland Park (4 turf rectangle fields, 4 diamonds plus an adaptive Miracle League field) anchor the county’s tournament capacity, with more turf rectangle and triangle fields at Sawnee Mountain, Matt Community and Midway Parks. Many fields are lighted for evening and tournament play.
COURTS
Indoor courts
Fowler Park and Central Park recreation centers each run 2 indoor basketball/pickleball courts, alongside 12 and 8 outdoor tennis courts. Old Atlanta Park adds 2 more indoor courts and a splash pad. In the city, the Dobbs Creek Recreation Center puts six courts under one roof.
LAKE LANIER · WATERSPORTS
Lake access for tournaments and events
Forsyth County sits right on Lake Lanier. Two full-service private marinas — Port Royale Marina and Bald Ridge Marina — offer slips, rentals, fuel and watersports access. County-operated parks open up the shoreline too. A dozen of them run public boat ramps, with courtesy docks, sand beaches, picnic pavilions and lakeside campgrounds at Charleston, Mary Alice, Keith Bridge, Young Deer Creek and more. It’s an easy add-on for tournament weekends or a change of pace between meetings.
CITY OF CUMMING
City of Cumming venues
The city runs its own venues, including the Cumming Fairground and Rodeo Arena, the Cumming Aquatic Center and the Dobbs Creek Recreation Center. The Ice, an independently owned rink nearby, adds skating and hockey ice time to the mix.
LARGE EVENTS
Cumming Fairground and Rodeo Arena
Arena, exhibit halls and open ground. Home of the Cumming Country Fair & Festival and the IPRA rodeo, with facility rentals year round.
AQUATICS
Cumming Aquatic Center
A competition-length pool and lap lanes at 201 Aquatic Circle, with additional pools for lessons and recreation. Hosts swim meets, camps, and both indoor and outdoor party rental space.
RECREATION CENTER
Dobbs Creek Recreation Center
City-run gym at 1115 Dahlonega Highway with six courts under one roof for basketball, volleyball and pickleball, plus open-gym and drop-in access.
ICE SPORTS · INDEPENDENT
The Ice
An independently owned rink on Atlanta Highway, not a city facility. Public skating, figure skating, and youth and adult hockey, with ice time booked direct. A second sheet of public ice may be coming.
